0 IT Careers in Healthcare

The health care industry in Canada is worth $105 billion. Luckily for IT workers, 2 to 3 billion dollars is spent on Information Technology.  Health care IT is a combination of computer knowledge and guaranteeing job security in the future, as there will always be hospitals and clinics.

There are four main career paths:

1) Infrastructure - This is the network engineer and system engineer team. They are required to work in management and run the systems. They work in the data centre with the servers to make sure they function properly.

2) Customer Service Support - This job is like being in the "geek squad, because since most customer service workers have a computer system, if there is a problem or it something breaks down then you are called down as a PC tech to find a solution and save the day.

3) Application Support - These people's job requires them to make the software work for the hospital or clinic and they typically are actually very experienced in the operations they are involved in, so if you are a nurse or work in the business sector, then you can easily transition into this career with your experience in health care.

4) Web Technology  (the fastest growing one) - This is probably the most exciting career in health care, as the team consists of lots of different skills and people. Including web designers, graphic designers, and also architects who control the movement of information from one system and another.

To be a good health care IT worker, the skills you need to be able to think logically, and multitask many things. You also need excellent communication, analytical, and project skills. The reason it is a good idea to enter the health care industry, is being we will always need this industry even in the future, as it a permanent industry. 0 Google Job Project = Genius!

This technique is a great way to grab a good job with today's top companies. All people working in the information technology industry should try this! Maybe send it to Bill Gates and Steve Jobs? Or better! The creator of Google, Michael Garica. Technology can make your life simple, just by using Google Ads

0 Google: The Happiest Place for IT Workers

It is 6:00 am and you are dreading out of bed, not looking forward to another slow boring day of work. However, is that always the case? Well, this is definitely not true for Google, which was voted #1 employer by Forbes. This "very successful" company has come to attract many IT workers by offering a persona of fun and creativity to their work place. "Googlers" have described the company as a great way to communicate with people, with the ability to make high-end products, and are planning to stay long-term, because they do not know any other company where a upbeat environment is offered.

Hanging around
It is the people that make it fun.

Along with the motto that unique people make a great big part of Google with great ideas, there are also many benefits offered. And we are talking about lotss of benefits! I do not even know where to start, as they all seem too good to be true, but here they are:
  • Bon Appetit! Google pays for your free meals!  There are 11 free gourmet cafeterias at the Mountain View, Calif. Headquarters and according to the "googlers", this is not your typical sandwich deli, in fact an employee has said that it might even be better than the best restaurants in New York, but we will have to check that out for ourselves. Free does make everything sound good.
  • Google seems to give out a lot of rewards! If you care to refer a friend to work there, well you just earned yourself $2,000 bonus. Oh, and you if you just had a baby boy, they will give you another $500. It is like getting scholarships for the rest of your life.
Relaxed atmosphere
  • Recreation facilities include being able to go use the gym, and maybe even getting a massage after that. In your spare time, feel free to go learn Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, and French. Oh, and you can get a concierge to take dinner reservations for you.
  • Working and maintaining your chores can be hard to manage at the same time, but at Google, you are free to use the laundry services, with free of charge. Additional stuff includes having 5 doctors on site for check-ups, child care, workout rooms, and car services. ALL FREE!
  • You can ride a scooter around campus.
  • Dogs are most definitely allowed! So brighten up your day, by bringing your best friend. However, keep in mind that since they can cause trouble, there is also a "Google Dog Policy" to which rules apply.
All work, but also all play.
  • There are so many things to do but one of the popular ones are being able to play pool, go swimming, and rock climbing.
No wonder, Google receives 1,300 resumes everyday! They offer their engineers a fun and inspirational place, where they are allowed to choose 20% of their projects, depending on interests. It makes me wonder if maybe they splurge out money, because they are successful. Or maybe, they are successful because they have such a wonderful workplace where their employees would put hard work and soul into whatever they are doing.

Just reading all this, I feel like applying to Google even though I am only 17, and I have no professional experience with computers. However, one can aspire! So, there is a solution to everything.
It is 6:00 am, now that there is Google, you do not have to dread to work anymore. It is genuinely the happiest place on earth for IT workers.

0 Paid to Play: Exciting World of Game Development

When you were a young kid, you must have at least once had the idea of making video games when you were older, depending on your interests. I mean, it seems pretty exciting, right? You get paid to create a whole new virtual world, story, and concept. In other words, your career requires you to express your fun ideas through art and programming.

Well, lucky for you! The video game industry is booming with revenues topping $12.5 billions in North America. You can make an average of $70,000 in a year as a game developer/programmer. However, is it as easy as it seems? Just keep in mind that if you really want to get into the gaming industry, you need to really be determined and should know what to expect. This business is in truth, very competitive and pressurizing, with terrible long hours. You will also need a lot of upgrading time-to-time, when gaming systems are constantly changing. Also, it may be hard to get into the industry as a beginner because, turning text codes into Mario is no easy job.

However, it is NOT impossible as every job has it's own pro's and con's. So if you know you can become a successful video game developer, then go for it. Just to be on the safe side, maybe write a copy of your favorite video game to see if this is something you are very passionate about. And even if you still want to go for it, good job! There is a job security right now as the market is always booming, and if you feel like you want to do a "nine-to-five" job then just do smaller projects. You may be getting paid less, but at least you are doing something you like without having pressurizing hours that may require you to stay till 2 am.

If you are interested in post-secondary interactive/game designing programs. BCIT offers a program that specializes in game designing, however, keep in mind that you will need a diploma first.
